How To Turn Your Bed Into A Romantic Retreat

bedThe bedroom serves many purposes, from being a space where we can unwind and let go of the day’s stresses and where we try our best to get a great night’s sleep to the room in the house where ‘the magic happens.’ Unlike other rooms throughout the home which generally serve a single purpose, such as the kitchen for preparing food and the dining room for eating in, the bedroom is expected to serve many purposes, often for two of you. At the end of the day, however, your bedroom needs to be a space where you can relax and, ultimately, enjoy spending time with your partner, for many.

We recently came across this post published by Barbara Genda which is titled “Create A Romantic And Seductive Look For Your Humble Bed” and this got us thinking. Despite being a couple of years old, this is the sort of post which is as relevant today as it was back when it was written and, as such, we wanted to bring you our own top tips on how you can turn your bed into a romantic retreat. You deserve to have a space where you feel both relaxed and romantic and by trying out some of these suggestions, we’re confident you shouldn’t have too much trouble creating that feel!

1. A Well Made Bed Makes All The Difference

Whilst it’s all too tempting to overlook making the bed in the morning, especially when you’re running round trying to get out of the house, be sure to do this each and every day! There’s nothing worse than going up to bed in an evening to find the duvet is still sat how you left it when you got out of bed in the morning whilst, on the flip side, there’s few things as welcoming as a well made bed with crisp, clean sheets. Straighten your pillows and duvet and, if you own one, put a throw over your bed.

2. A Comfortable Mattress Is The Key

Ask yourself when you last replaced your mattress. If you’ve not done so for some time, why not consider taking a look at the range of mattresses out on the market and spend some time finding the right one for you? There’s no such thing as ‘the right mattress’ as it all depends on how you sleep and what you like, however if there was ever a way to ruin the moment, it’s by having a mattress which is full of lumps and bumps!

3. Protect Both Your Mattress & Pillows

We’re sure you’ve invested in quality bedding and, as such, we’re also sure you want to keep it looking it’s best. There’s nothing less romantic than bedding which has seen better days, however by purchasing mattress and pillow toppers, you can keep them looking their best for longer.

4. Replace Your Sheets

If there was ever a way to ensure your bed feels luxurious and help create a relaxing, romantic atmosphere, it’s to replace your sheets. Why not consider trying Egyptian cotton sheets or something just as luxurious and treating yourself? They’re widely considered to be the very best sheets in the world and you’ll feel like a king or queen when sleeping on them!

5. A Careful Use Of Candles

Whilst this isn’t technically related to your bedding, the ultimate way to create a romantic bedroom environment is to use scented candles and incense sticks, however placement is key here! If you’re lucky enough to each have a lovely little bedside cabinet, placing a small candle on each not only looks great but also ensure the scent fills the entire room! Be sure, of course, to use the same scent each side!
